About Laura

I’m a multi-hyphenate artist and creative. A graduate of Hofstra University, I received a B.F.A. in Performance and minors in Musical Theater, English, and Public Relations. A highlight of my college experience was playing Juliet in Romeo & Juliet and performing THE balcony scene on the most historically-accurate replica of the Globe Stage in North America. A Chicago-based actress, I love the lake and tolerate the winters (I’m always cold anyways). When not writing, acting, singing in my kitchen or recording in my booth, I work as a standardized patient, teaching communication skills to medical students. I enjoy hiking and traveling; Prague, Czechia has a special place in my heart after I spent a summer working there. I do yoga with my hubby and go on Jane Austen-esque promenades with my friends. I also bake banana bread bi-weekly, as I can never seem to eat bananas fast enough and thusly always have some in my freezer!

SCARAMOUCHE
a new musical premiering at City Lit!

I am delighted to be playing Aline, the leading lady, in Scaramouche, a gorgeous musical written by Kingsley Day & James Glossman. This is my first time working at City Lit Theater, but I have been with the project since last winter, when we did a workshop and reading there. It is such an exciting experience to be a part of a world premiere piece, and having the writer in the room is such a treat. I’m also overjoyed to be reunited with one of my favorite directors in the city, Beth Wolf! We are headed into our second week of rehearsals, and have been very busy learning the libretto with our amazing musical director, Kevin Zhou. This show has a beautiful, sweeping score with a story of epic proportions, and I cannot wait for you all to see it! Previews are May 1-3, and we open the following weekend! Buy your tickets HERE!

DRACULA:
A COMEDY OF TERRORS

I had an outrageously fun time playing Mina Westfeldt and Dr. Van Helsing in this sexy, silly, unhinged retelling of Bram Stroker’s Dracula! It was my debut with Lazy Susan Theatre Co. and I truly could not have asked for a better team to work with on this show. We got killer reviews (read them here), and were Jeff Awards Recommended! I’m also proud to share we had a completely sold out run from Feb 5-22, even after adding performances due to demand. There’s even rumors of a remount, so fangs at the ready!

The production features five passionate, attention-grabbing actors cast convincingly and playing over a dozen different roles plus a creative team that hits the mark” (Mark Reinecke, Around the Town Chicago)
